If you are a non-EU student studying in Spain and as you may already know, the “TIE”(Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero) is an important residence document that not only confirms your right to stay in Spain during your period of study but also enables you to travel in and out of Spain and the Schengen area with ease.
Due to the lockdown imposed by the State of Alarm (Estado de Alarma) in Spain from 14 March 2020 to 21 June 2020, immigration offices (oficinas de extranjería) and police stations (comisaría de policía) were closed throughout Spain and only gradually started accepting appointments after the State of Alarm was lifted. This, combined with reduced staff working at immigration offices and police stations, means that TIE appointments are very difficult to get at present and in addition, due to COVID-19, there is now an additional step involved of having to make another appointment to collect your TIE.
Here at Live and Study in Barcelona we present a step-by-step guide on how to make your TIE appointment in Barcelona depending on your situation as a student.

First, get all your documents in place (though you may choose to make an appointment first before getting your documents together).
